The Entrepreneur of the Year, Bay Area

This was my first time working for Agency B.  I was brought on board by the executive producer because the client had to manage simultaneous events across six cities in one week and needed multiple producers. My role was the show producer for the Bay Area event while other producers oversaw events in Southern California, Texas, and Colorado.

The evening awards show was designed to celebrate nine winners from a pool of 23 finalists, honoring CEOs for their impact and growth. These regional winners will advance to the national event in November. You can find more information about the event here.

The person on the far right is one of the finalists.

Witnessing the transformation of an empty venue into a full production stage overnight was impressive. It required significant physical effort from a 20-member crew. While I had previously worked with three of the crew members, everyone else was new to me.

Awards shows are all about timing. To avoid any dead air, the music, visual, and lighting cues needed precise synchronization. This was a refreshing change from tech conferences, which predominantly feature slide decks. This event did not include a single static image. All assets, including animated title slides, were videos produced by Agency B. It took some time to familiarize myself with all the assets and update a run of show accordingly.

Having a professional MC, Scott McGrew from NBC Bay Area, made a significant difference. His enthusiastic delivery and minimal reliance on the script enhanced the event. A presidential teleprompter worked perfectly for all the presenters. Though it required a more precise setup than an on-camera prompter, it was an ideal tool for such an elegant event.

Many thanks to Neil, Abel, David, Rachel, and Pam for their support.
