Celebrating International Women’s Day with Bozoma Saint John

Google’s International Women’s Day event brought an exceptional guest speaker to the stage, Bozoma Saint John, whose presence and words left an indelible mark on all who attended.

Her story resonated on multiple levels, serving as an inspiration to all who had the privilege of hearing her speak. I felt a deep sense of gratitude toward my client, Elise, for her efforts in securing such an extraordinary speaker, despite the numerous date and scope changes.

The event itself was divided into two parts. The first hour featured a fireside chat between Bozoma Saint John and Sujata Kosalge, Google’s VP of Engineering. Bozoma shared her remarkable journey from childhood, highlighting her courage to speak up in the corporate world and her unwavering commitment to her family. The audience was brimming with enthusiasm, as intelligent questions flooded the Q&A session. The air was filled with laughter and camaraderie, making this event a truly unforgettable experience.

The second hour comprised a panel discussion featuring five female leaders from Google. Although this portion of the event was not open to the general public, the talk delivered by Bozoma Saint John was later released on the Talks at Google YouTube channel.

The MP7 Event Center in Sunnyvale served as the perfect backdrop for this occasion. Elise, our client, provided beautiful design assets from Google’s Women’s History Month branding style guide. One particular detail that caught my eye was the flower arrangements on the lunch tables, which we incorporated into the fireside chat setting. The color scheme of the event harmoniously complemented the cover of Bozoma’s book.

Elise distributed copies of Bozoma’s book, “The Urgent Life: My Story of Love, Loss, and Survival,” to the entire production crew. I can’t wait to read her memoir.
